ChatGPT has recently passed the Bar exam in the US.

What should we do now?

In the latest episode of The Law of Tech podcast, entitled: “Legal certification 2.0: Are LLMs (Large Language Models) turning legal education upside down?”, we interviewed one of our legal tech heroes: the one and only Michael Bommarito, CEO of 273 Ventures and Lecturer at Michigan State University College of Law.

We delved into one of Michael’s most renowned and recent papers: “GPT as Knowledge Worker: A Zero-Shot Evaluation of (AI) CPA Capabilities”, beginning with some foundations of the definition of ‘knowledge worker’ before moving into statistics and other technical aspects.

The findings of Michael’s research strongly suggest that LLMs have the potential to transform the quality and efficiency of future knowledge work, but will inevitably also introduce new challenges, especially around legal education and in the way in which we assess and train the lawyers of tomorrow.

As per #thelawoftech trademark, we prefer to put people before technology, always. Therefore, rather than focusing on an overly technical debate, we opened up the discussion to explore and focus more on the career side and real life impact of such technology.
