S4E3 | Reconsidering the concept of accuracy in data-driven medicine w/ Elisabetta Biasin

In a world where AI churns out responses to our countless prompts, the concept of accuracy has never been more critical.

Though from a legal perspective, the notion of accuracy is present in several pieces of EU legislation, including the recently passed EU AI Act, one may wonder: ‘what does accuracy actually mean?’

While the term ‘accuracy’ may seem to mean the same across frameworks and contexts, our latest guest on the show argues that it is more appropriate to account for an industry and subject-matter basis when interpreting the concept.

Joining us on the latest episode of #thelawoftech podcast is our friend Elisabetta Biasin – doctoral researcher at KU Leuven CiTiP – imec and an External Collaborating Expert on Data Protection of Big Data and Real-World Data at the European Medicines Agency.

As the concept of accuracy is gaining momentum in the context of data and AI regulation, Elisabetta takes us on a journey to better understand its practical meaning and identify existing gaps in its implementation in her domain of expertise: healthcare innovation.
